2019 Instructor Training Camp
The introductory level of the Lion's Roar Martial Arts system, taught over a two day seminar at Sifu David Ross' New York San Da headquarters. This is not only essential material for all martial artists, it is also the material required for Associate Coach level certification in the New Martial Revolution Association.
The training involved not only technique, but the drilling methods to develop attributes and skills. A brief outline of the material in this program includes;
1. Body awareness and power generation drills
2. The Basic Eight Strikes (八打拳) (Kickboxing structure)
3. Six Gate Defense method (defenses against basic eight strikes)
4. Eight Direction (Ba Gua) footwork patterns for knee strikes and kicking
5. Closing the distance / Transition from "kickboxing" to "clinching" against hook
6. Head movement transitions against straight punches
7. Throws and takedowns from "over and under" clinch structure
8. "Over and under" clinch (Clinching structure)
9. Clinching structure for strikes (Double neck hold)
10. Ground structure: defending against standing attacker
11. Transition from ground structure back to kickboxing structure
12. Ground structure: guard for self defense / Vale Tudo
13. Transitions from clinching to kickboxing ("clinch breaking")
14. Kicking transitions into clinching structure
15. Partner drills for movement
16. Partner drills for wrestling
17. "Survival drills" for striking defense
18. Mixed Martial Arts Focus Mitt drills
